Board Meeting Notes January 2013

  • Financial Report: All the planned major clubhouse repairs were completed in December and are being expensed ahead of schedule. Transfers from reserves will be done in January to balance the budget using funds already committed to the Capital projects. The collection of the semi-annual fees are beginning to come in as well as payments from some past due accounts.
  • Chairs for the Outdoor Pool: The Board reviewed some research done by the Pool Supervisor for new chairs for the outdoor pool. Some of the current plastic chairs/lounges were broken and have been discarded, while other style chairs and lounges are unserviceable. After considerable discussion, the Board asked for more research from local companies and wants to see some actual samples before making any decision.
  • Old Carriage Trail Bridges CVNP: The Old Carriage Trail bridges have been closed for several months due to extensive deterioration of the supporting infrastructure. CNVP commissioned three teams of CWRU engineering students to submit designs and cost estimates for replacement of the existing bridges. These designs were submitted to CVNP which was pleased with the work and now will be seeking funding to replace the the existing bridges. CVNP provided copies of the designs to the Bridges Committee which presented them to the GVCA Board to update them on the status of the bridge replacements. The board reminds residents that the current bridges are dangerous and residents are advised not to walk on them.
  • Website Update: Over 3,000 persons have been on the website since it started on March 1, 2012. Website traffic has leveled off and residents are asking for more functionality. GVCA has collected over 300 email addresses from residents who want to be alerted when something new is posted on the website. In addition, GVCA’s Facebook page has over 200 followers who are alerted when new content is posted. The Website Committee is planning to come to the Board next month with a proposal to migrate the current site to a new platform that will allow greater resident interaction. Ultimately, the objective is to cut the costs of printing and distributing 1500 copies of the newsletter each month..
  • Alternative Energy Sources in Greenwood Village: A considerable amount of research on sustainable energy sources was presented by the ACCES committee chair. After lengthy discussion, the Board voted not to allow any Solar or Wind powered devices to be placed on any housing in Greenwood Village. This prohibition will be added to the list of items in the ACCES regulations that are not permitted. Residents should also be reminded that gas powered generators and radon mitigation systems require approval from ACCES before they can be installed.
