Board Meeting Notes September 2012

  • The Financial report for the month of August showed that the actual to budgeted for both revenue and expenses was well within acceptable levels. Some of the variances were due to the timing of specific revenue or expense category but are well within the budget plan and annual budgeted amounts. There are still a small number of residents (4%) who are not current with their semi-annual fees and/or past due fees.
  • Work continues on the clubhouse to stop further water and moisture damage by caulking and replacing window weather stripping, and new doors. This work has all been planned for and paid through the Capital Budget and was accounted for in the Reserve Study. The indoor pool is now open since the outdoor pool season ended September 15. Residents will continue to use the computerized pool pass check-in system established in the summer for the indoor pool.
  • The ACCES committee reported on the approval of 15 new projects for door and window replacement, and updated the Board about other projects for which more information is required or are in process or are incomplete. About 10% of the ACCES projects submitted are missing information and one solution is to make the application requirements for different projects clearer on the website. Regulations for retractable awnings are in review.
  • The Garden Committee reported that the garden was fully occupied this year and will be meeting soon to discuss plans for next year.
  • The Landscape Committee approved a proposal to do more work along Greenwood Parkway in an effort to beautify Greenwood and is in the process of creating a plan for tree maintenance and care. The committee continues to monitor landscape work and contracts for landscaping. The next meeting of the committee will be October 8 at 7:00 PM featuring a speaker who will talk about the “Power of Pollinators”
  • The Recreation Committee’s next party is the highly attended Clambake on Sept 28 at the clubhouse. Sign-up forms are available on the website as well as at the clubhouse.
  • Friends of Greenwood (FOG) has sadly ceased its operation and many years of service to Greenwood Village. Over the years, FOG organized activities and fostered a residential sense of community that raised money for projects and contributed to the preservation of Greenwood. Most recently FOG donated picnic tables and other tables they had used for some of their activities. FOG decorated the Clubhouse for the December holidays each year.
  • The Website Committee reported that the site continues to get more returning visitors each month. The committee is considering a number of new ideas for the website to promote more resident communication and interaction. Residents are encouraged to submit suggestions for the website to: gvcawebmaster@gmail.com.
  • G.R.I.D. will again be sponsoring a Candidates Night on Monday evening October 29 at 7:00 PM in the Clubhouse. Candidates and Issues will be presented for your information. Candidates Night in Greenwood is one of the best political educational programs in the area – come and be informed. As a reminder to all, Political signs in Greenwood are prohibited – see the ACCES rules in Governance Section S (revised 5/18/2010).
