There was a recent update on the Carriage Trail Bridges.
The three bridges — Rocky Run (spanning 150 feet), Twin Oaks (150 feet) and Hemlock (166 feet) span ravines that are up to 80 feet deep and were only 20 years old when the Cuyahoga Valley National Park closed them in 2009 as unsafe. Now it looks like there will be some money in the 2016 Federal Budget for the CVNP to design at least one bridge, which is a hopeful next step on the path to reopening the full Carriage Trail. Until that day arrives, a portion of the trail called the Hemlock Loop is still open. It connects, via Greenwood trails and a still open portion of the Carriage Trail, to the opposite ends of Hemlock Road, creating a complete loop that will take Greenwood hikers by the Hemlock Bridge. If you have never seen the Hemlock bridge, it is definitely worth seeing before it is demolished and removed.
REMEMBER – The Bridges are Unsafe!
You can poke holes in the rusted steel and they could collapse under their own weight at any time. They are even more likely to collapse when covered with snow!
PLEASE DO NOT GO ON THE BRIDGES!!!
