Board Meeting Notes – January 21, 2014
Treasurer’s Report – The collection of the semi-annual fees is below
budgeted expectations but these are expected to come up by January 31, 2014 when
fees are due without late fees. The Board moved its semi-annual allocation of
$55K to the Reserves account. Weather and disease affected many trees
contributing to higher than normal costs for removal. The budgeted amounts for
most accounts were achieved during the month but actual expenses were below
expectations and all are expected to balance at year end as some expenses have
been deferred but will occur later in the fiscal year.
The Board approved replacement of the Pool Heater, controls and plumbing
work and a heat controller system for the building. Both were in need of
replacement. Other Clubhouse maintenance work to reinforce beams was discovered
when the outside brick was being tuck-pointed. The first of these were
completed with additional repair work to occur when the weather improves.
The Recreation Committee reported that Swim-in-Movies over the December
holidays attracted many residents, grandparents and children tripling the
attendance of previous movies at the pool. More Dive-in movies swim parties are
scheduled for February 22 and March 29. See the website for a full list of the
Recreation Committee’s events for 2014.
The Landscape Committee and Nordonia Hills Garden Club is sponsoring a free
event for residents on Organic Lawn Care on Wednesday, February 19 at 6:30PM at
the clubhouse. See the website or your GV News for more details.
The Website Committee reported that 2013 website traffic has increased 53%
over 2012 averaging over 450 visitors each month. Interest is high in the
property for sale, Party Room, Pool, Improvements, Alerts, Legal Notices, and
Retractable Awning rules. Interest in our housing is likely due to many factors:
the quality, standards and maintenance of the housing stock in Greenwood, the
Village’s amenities and its location and boundaries on the rim of the Cuyahoga
Valley National Park.

ALERT ALERT
DO NOT PUT FOOD OUT FOR WILDLIFE AT THE EDGE OF THE CVNP, OR THE EDGES OF
COMMON AREAS.
Feeding wildlife in Greenwood Village is prohibited.
While feeding wildlife may appear to be a humane effort in winter, that
behavior simply detracts from those animals foraging for themselves in the CVNP
and other wild areas on plants, seeds and other animals. It weakens them as a
species. Feeding encourages them to forage near homes, where they will also feed
upon landscaping and prey on small pets, increases the rodent population as well
as increases the potential for the transmission of diseases such as rabies.
Discarding food from your table or home for wildlife is the same as dumping your
garbage.

ALERT – PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG. Your Dog made it, pick it up and take it
home with you and put it in the garbage.
Tip: Re-use the plastic bags from the newspaper or grocery store to quickly
pick up the poop OR go to a Pet Store and find a package of small bags you can
attach to your leash and pull out as needed. It’s your dog, you are responsible
for what it does.
Keep your dog on a leash at all times. Be aware that you should keep your
dog off other people’s property.
Summit County ordinances require you to license your dog, physically confine
or restrain your dog when on your property, and always leash your dog when not
on your property. If any resident has a problem with a dog, the number to call
is 13306432845for the Summit County Dog Warden.
