The National Park Service has been preparing to replace the footbridge* on the Old Carriage Trail about 0.3 miles from the northern intersection with the Towpath Trail. In the meantime, they have been monitoring the existing bridge for safety. Due to continued deterioration of the existing bridge, the National Park Service had to close it on May 4, 2022. The bridge closure is expected to last from 8-12 weeks. A detour is not available. (*This is the footbridge behind Ironwood Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park .)
