You may have seen the article below in the December Newsletter. It is reposted here so you can easily use the link to the Darksky HLA quiz:

Many of you had the chance to see the Northern Lights back in May, or the planets through a telescope at one of our events. Key to being able to see the stars is a dark night sky. Greenwood encourages residents to install dark-sky compliant lighting and more importantly, be light-friendly to your neighbors and wildlife in how you use your lighting.

Do you know if your home lighting is community and night sky friendly? Take the online DarkSky Home Lighting Assessment quiz and learn how you can light the areas that matter when lighting is needed, while preserving the night sky, reducing your electric bill, and being a good neighbor by not letting your lights shine in their windows. (Lights are meant for safety, but can be dangerous if their glare blinds a driver to someone walking. With the leaves off the trees, now is a perfect time to do a lighting assessment and to learn what to look for in lighting before buying new lights or lightbulbs. Link is on website.

BTW, if you would like to see the forecast for Northern Lights, NOAA has an impressive site that shows the forecast for today and tomorrow on a global map. (Because of the speed of the solar wind and unpredictability of solar flares, it is not possible to forecast further out.)
